Caterina May  [Profile]

Caterina May, an Italian, began studying the cello at the age of 9 in Milan. She earned her cello diploma from the Conservatory of Music in Brescia under the guidance of Maestro Marco Scano. She further honed her skills, with Marco Scano, Mihai Dancila, Christian Bellisario, and Macha Yanouchevsky. For early music, she has studied baroque cello with Catherine Jones.

Caterina has been a member of the youth orchestras "Giovane Sinfonietta Italiana" and "Accademia del Teatro alla Scala." Since then, she has been collaborating as a freelance orchestral musician and as a regular performer in various chamber ensembles, including baroque ensembles, string quartet, and cello-piano duo. Notable performances include a cello-piano concert at the Świdnica City Theatre in Poland in 2012 in memory of Giovanni Paolo II. She is also part of the "Cosmos Cello Duo" with the cellist Issei Watanabe, and she serves as modern and baroque cellist the Music Chapel of the Cathedral of Lodi.

Passionate about teaching, Caterina completed the Colourstrings International Teacher Training Course with Maestro Csaba Szilvay and taught cello at the Colourstrings School of Music in Milan and the Ambrosian Musical Academy.
